The event was supported by members of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), along with local council representatives including Councillor (Cr) Amanda Camm and MLA Nigel Dalton. Their presence helped contribute to the friendly atmosphere and reflected the value of community connection.
Master of Ceremonies Ian Rowan guided the evening, supported by Frank Cowell, who delivered the Welcome to Slade Point. Santa Mal was a popular highlight for children, arriving on his motorised esky and handing out lollies. Music from DJ Jungle Jim added to the festive mood, with many guests joining in the dancing. A wide range of lucky door prizes kept energy high throughout the evening, while the sausage sizzle, and slices of Lions Christmas Cake, ensured guests were well catered for.
Support from Mackay Regional Council, Coles Rural View, and Bunnings North Mackay helped make the event a memorable community celebration and reinforced the importance of coming together to build safe and connected communities.
