NHW Gold Coast Volunteers on Shredding Day.
Community shredding days held at Robina, Coomera, and Runaway Bay once again attracted strong participation, providing residents with a secure way to dispose of sensitive documents and X-rays. Delivered in partnership with Shred-X, the three events collected 11.6 tonnes of material, which were safely disposed of, while creating valuable opportunities for community members to directly engage with NHW volunteers about local safety concerns.

The City of Gold Coast Safer Suburbs Awards recognised individuals and groups who contribute to safer, more connected neighbourhoods. The 2025 awards celebrated 40 nominees across individual and group categories, with several Gold Coast NHW groups and the District Committee represented. The nominations highlighted a wide range of community-led efforts, including prevention initiatives, volunteer leadership, and sustained local engagement.
The NHW Queensland State Conference provided a further opportunity to recognise local contribution, with District Committee member Nancy Cooper nominated for the South East Region NHW Community Member Award. Her work with local seniors’ groups and crime prevention initiatives reflects the broader commitment across the district to practical, community-led safety.
